It is a good dream if you are gathering ripe Plums ; but if they are still green, then your efforts will fail from want of careful planning.
If you pick up the fruit after it has fallen to the ground, it is a sign of change of position, not entirely for your good. Dried Plums— such as Prunes—show difficulties.
1. A positive omen of youth, vitality and abundance.
2. A measure of happiness and success (note the stage of ripeness or general condition of the plum).
3. A cure for possible emotional “constipation,” repression (to encounter or eat prunes).
See Peaches, Pears for similar interpretation.
The exception is the dried plum which becomes a prune, indicating that the dreamer should wait a reasonable time before making a decision.
Plums, if they are green, unless seen on trees, are signs of personal and relative discomfort.
To see them ripe, denotes joyous occasions, which, however, will be of short duration.
To eat them, denotes that you will engage in flirtations and other evanescent pleasures.
To gather them, you will obtain your desires, but they will not prove so solid as you had imagined.
If you find yourself gathering them up from the ground, and find rotten ones among the good, you will be forced to admit that your expectations are unrealized, and that there is no life filled with pleasure alone.
Green plums forecast sickness; ripe ones are fortunate ; to dream of picking them from the ground and finding them rotten denotes false friends, poverty and disgrace. (Raphael).
